Tampa General Hospital is using its annual Innovation Week to spotlight what it sees as the next wave of patient care—by testing new tools, workflows and partnerships in real-world settings.

The health system is formally opening a new Innovation Center in Ybor City as a hub where clinicians, technologists and outside partners can evaluate emerging medical technology and translate promising ideas into bedside practice.

Programming tied to Innovation Week includes hands-on demonstrations and training focused on advanced clinical tools. One example highlighted during the week is new imaging equipment designed to move around a patient more freely, reflecting a broader push toward more flexible, tech-enabled procedures and care environments.

The Innovation Center is positioned as a key piece of Tampa General’s broader Tampa Medical & Research District vision—linking Ybor City, downtown and the Davis Islands campus with academic, research and life-sciences partners. Beyond showcasing technology, the center is expected to support collaboration with startups and industry, and provide space for events, education and experimentation—including a “hospital room of the future” concept meant to simulate and pilot next-generation care delivery.

Tampa General says Innovation Week is designed to be a system-wide showcase of breakthroughs, bringing together health system leaders, clinicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders around the theme of accelerating practical innovation in care.
