New Good Samaritan Hospital, With Luxury Housing And Retail Planned In West Palm Beach
Tenet plans to build a new, high-tech Good Samaritan Medical Center in downtown West Palm Beach as part of a 27-acre mixed-use redevelopment led by Easton Street Capital.
The project would combine a “next-generation” hospital with housing, retail and a hotel, creating a live-work-wellness campus on North Flagler Drive.
The existing Good Samaritan facility—licensed for 333 beds and dating back to 1920—would remain open during construction. Once the new hospital is complete, the current building would be demolished. Tenet executive Maggie Gill said the goal is to “reimagine” the campus with more beds, expanded services and state-of-the-art technology.
Planned additions include adjacent medical office buildings and a new cancer center, along with advanced cardiac care, pediatric access, expanded surgical capabilities, and a stronger emphasis on wellness and preventive care. Gill said Tenet expects the upgraded campus to draw patients from beyond West Palm Beach and potentially function as “destination care.”
Easton Street Capital and Palm Beach Health Network are finalizing plans and expect to submit a city application in the coming weeks. Easton’s Cody Crowell said the hospital and housing will be built first, including workforce rentals and luxury condos aimed at baby boomers seeking convenient access to health care.
Crowell said the team expects to firm up a construction budget within about three months, move into approvals this summer, and—after an estimated 12-month review process—break ground on the first phase. Tenet has also established a foundation tied to the project to support medical research, education, patient access programs, and physician recruitment, emphasizing that donations aren’t needed for construction but could fund expanded community-focused initiatives.
