UMB Bank Provides $131M For New Medical Center In Fort Lauderdale
Broward Health has obtained approximately $131 million in construction financing to develop a new outpatient medical office building in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, marking the health system’s first ground-up development in nearly a quarter century.
The tax-exempt construction loan was arranged through UMB Bank, with Centurion Foundation holding the leasehold mortgage on Broward Health’s behalf.
The project will rise on a 1.8-acre site at 1611 South Andrews Avenue, directly adjacent to Broward Health Medical Center. Plans call for an eight-story, 188,000-square-foot medical office building, accompanied by a seven-story parking garage with approximately 700 spaces.
Once completed, the facility is expected to include up to 237 clinical rooms, supporting a wide range of outpatient services such as cardiovascular care, pulmonology, gastroenterology, neuroscience, women’s health, and primary care. The development is designed to expand access to specialized services while modernizing the campus’s outpatient footprint.
Construction is being led by The Beck Group in partnership with DMZ Architects, with completion anticipated next year.
In addition to the Fort Lauderdale project, Broward Health is advancing plans for another outpatient medical office building in Deerfield Beach, a six-story facility expected to house roughly 123 clinical rooms, signaling continued investment in expanding healthcare access across Broward County.
