West Palm Beach Medical Buildings Face Foreclosure
In the midst of construction, a former mental health facility in West Palm Beach is the object of a $7.88 million foreclosure complaint.
On April 30, Sunshine Holdings 2019 LLC and Sunview Medical Center LLC were named as guarantors in a foreclosure action filed by Pasadena, California-based East West Bank against them and Stephen Werdiger.
It involves the 8,006-square-foot medical office at 4802 East Ave., which is home to the Sunview Health mental health clinic, and the 50,154-square-foot medical office at 1041 45th Street, which was formerly a psychiatric hospital.
In 2020, the nonprofit Jerome Golden Center for Behavioral Health sold both sites to the for-profit company for $11 million. 2019 saw the end of Jerome Golden’s activities, which included closing the mental health facility.
In 2021, the borrowers received a $10.85 million mortgage from East West Bank. The lawsuit claims that the lender used forbearance agreements to prolong the loan’s maturity date three times before it ultimately matured on November 30, 2023, without being repaid. The lawsuit states that the debtors owe $7.88 million in principal, interest, and fees.
