Port St. Lucie’s newest hospital, Florida Coast Medical Center, is preparing to open its doors on September 9. The $200 million, 180,000-square-foot facility features 54 beds, a 24-hour emergency department, advanced surgical and diagnostic equipment, and specialized care in cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, and robotics.

Located along Becker Road, the hospital was strategically built to serve the city’s rapidly growing population—Port St. Lucie ranks fifth among the fastest-growing U.S. cities over 20,000 residents, according to a 2024 Census report. CEO Tyler Sherrill said the location was chosen for its accessibility and to provide care closer to home for residents who previously traveled out of the area for treatment.

The hospital is part of the Palm Beach Health Network under Tenet Healthcare and will receive support from five sister hospitals in South Florida. It opens fully staffed with 330 employees and a team of local physicians, many with decades of experience in the community.

Florida Coast Medical Center emphasizes patient comfort and efficiency with high-tech emergency and surgical departments, large private rooms, and thoughtful details like advanced lighting, seamless countertops for easy sanitation, and Bluetooth-connected monitoring beds. Plans for future expansion are already in place, including additional operating rooms and development of surrounding acreage.

Adjacent to the hospital is a 40,000-square-foot medical office building, further enhancing access to comprehensive care.
