Memorial Healthcare System has filed major expansion plans for its flagship hospital in Hollywood.

On May 6, the city’s Technical Advisory Committee will review plans for Memorial Regional Hospital‘s expansion at 3501 Johnson Street. Situated slightly to the north of the current eight-story tower, the new structure would feature a patient drop-off location on Hospital Drive, close to the Starbucks.

Totaling 292,662 square feet, the new tower would mostly house staff facilities, critical care beds, and operating rooms. The hospital would then be 1.18 million square feet larger.

The new building’s first floor would house an outpatient clinic, a lobby, and a gift store, according to the preliminary site design. On the second floor, there would be 53 post-operative recovery rooms and 23 operation rooms. A pharmacy, meeting space, simulation labs, and a rehabilitation center would all be located on the third floor. There would be 30 patient beds on each of the next five floors, for a total of 150 beds. Currently, Memorial Regional Hospital has 486 beds.
