Baptist Health Permitted To Build Silverleaf Medical Campus In St. Johns County
The first building of a planned Baptist Health medical campus in St. Johns County’s Silverleaf community has received construction approval.
On January 14, the county issued a building permit for the project, which will feature a 59,000-square-foot facility with an estimated cost of $16.8 million.
The Development Review Committee evaluated the project on August 28. Plans include a standalone 24/7 Baptist/Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center, a maintenance building, a helipad for air ambulance services, and space for future expansion. These plans were submitted on July 19.
The campus is slated to open in early 2026. It will be located east of St. Johns Parkway, at the intersection of Silverleaf Parkway and south of County Road 210, roughly 3 miles north of International Golf Parkway and Tocoi Creek High School.
According to the site plan, the emergency room will cover 53,400 square feet, while the maintenance building will span 6,700 square feet. There will be 552 parking spaces available.
Baptist Health Properties Inc. owns the land, having purchased the 33.6-acre site in 2020 for $11.5 million from White’s Ford Timber through Hutson Companies, based in Jacksonville.
In a statement from July, a Baptist Health spokesperson outlined that the campus would include primary care services such as family medicine, pediatrics, and internal medicine, with other specialties under consideration based on the needs of the community. The campus will feature a patient-centered, environmentally sustainable design, and there is space for two additional healthcare buildings in the future.
“Baptist Health is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve, and we’re excited to bring our high-quality, compassionate care to Silverleaf and western St. Johns County,” the spokesperson added.
