A new medical campus taking shape along Sunrise Boulevard could receive financial assistance from Fort Lauderdale’s redevelopment agency.

The proposal would support a broader investment designed to expand emergency and outpatient care while bringing hundreds of healthcare jobs to the area—but the size of the requested incentive remains subject to city approval.

Holy Cross Health is seeking a $2.5 million incentive from Fort Lauderdale’s Northwest-Progresso-Flagler Heights Community Redevelopment Agency for its new healthcare facility at 200 E. Sunrise Boulevard.

The CRA’s advisory board recommended the funding in a 6-4 vote. Final approval would rest with the Fort Lauderdale City Commission acting as the CRA’s governing board.

The nearly 45,000-square-foot Holy Cross Health Center & Emergency Care – Fort Lauderdale at Sunrise is already under construction. The two-story facility will initially provide round-the-clock emergency services, advanced diagnostic imaging and access to physicians in multiple specialties.

Holy Cross has placed the first phase’s construction cost at approximately $57.3 million, while the overall investment associated with the property and its development reportedly exceeds $83 million. The initial phase is scheduled to open in spring 2027.

Once the entire facility is operational, Holy Cross expects it to serve more than 73,000 patients annually. Approximately 120 healthcare positions are anticipated during the first phase, with the employment count eventually expected to surpass 200 as additional services are introduced.

The Sunrise Boulevard location will be Holy Cross Health’s second freestanding emergency and outpatient center in Broward County, following the opening of a similar campus in Deerfield Beach.
